Today I was walking at a supermarket when I slipped and fell. The floor seemed a little wet. No one was around so I stood up embarrassed and kept on walking, since at that moment I did not feel any pain. I did not fill out an accident report but did notice surveillance cameras.
A couple of hours later my whole body aches: my knees, lower back, and abdomen. Is it too late to go back and fill out an incident report? Is there anything else I should do?

Before you go back to file an incident report, go to your local hospital emergency room or medical clinic. Your health is the most important issue. The doctors may order an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination or a CAT Scan (Computer Axial Tomography) examination.
Those examinations will help the doctors tell if you suffered any broken bones, torn cartilage, torn tendons, torn muscles and more. The examinations can also determine if you suffered any other damage to any of your internal organs.
Hopefully the tests will be negative. Whether they are or not, once the results are in you or someone you rely upon should go to the store and fill out an incident report, or at a minimum make contact with a supervisor or manager of the store. Get their names.
Tell then you fell, and when. They can easily look at their surveillance cameras and see when you fell. Tell them you want to be compensated for your medical bills.
If your injuries are serious your compensation should also include monies for your out of pocket expenses such as prescription medications and over the counter aids. The demand should also include reimbursement for your lost wages if it was necessary for you to miss work. And finally, an additional amount for the pain and suffering you endured.
Since laws change frequently and across jurisdictions you should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state (if you haven't already). Find an experienced local attorney to give you a FREE personalized case review here.
