Medical Bill After Auto Accident Settlement...

Finally, a month ago the insurance company approved the medical bills, lost wages (some), etc. Upon receipt of everything they requested that I sign a waiver of claims where I could not go after them from this point on for future doctor visits.

However, I was very shocked and have been stressed out ever since then when three days later I checked the mail and another $9,000 hospital bill showed up.

Am I going to be stuck with paying this expense out of my own pocket? Please HELP.

The most important thing you can do is wait until you receive all your medical bills before accepting a settlement. On the release form that you signed, you more than likely agreed that this was a complete and final settlement. What this means is that you are not entitled to seek recovery for this bill.

One option is to contact the medical provider and advise them of the situation; The other option is to submit a claim through your own insurance company for this amount.

Notwithstanding those options, the bottom line is that you will need to pay the expense for the amount until you get someone else to take responsibility.
