Am I eligible for a workers' comp settlement for carpal tunnel?

by Felicia
(Jackson,TN, USA)

I was having pains in my wrist and numbness in my hands before I was terminated from my job. But I have not worked since I was let go and it has been 30 days.

My question is: Would I be eligible for a settlement after being diagnosed with carpal tunnel, even though I have not worked for the employer for 30 days?

Workers Compensation

Yes, you are eligible for workers compensation provided the injury occurred "on the job." Even though you have since been terminated, you should contact your employer and submit a workers compensation claim for the time period that you were working.

You may receive some opposition since you are no longer an employee, but I would not take "no" for an answer since you were covered for any work-related injury during your employment.

If the claim is accepted, you will receive treatment and a possible settlement, but not a work accommodation.

Since laws change frequently and across jurisdictions you should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state (if you haven't already). Find an experienced local attorney to give you a FREE personalized case review here.

Best of luck,
