Seeking Punitive Damages in Drunk Driving Case
by Anonymous
My son was dropping a friend off after a football game. He was on the main street when a man ran through the stop sign and hit my son. The man was arrested at the scene as he was determined to be drunk.
The only reason they did not total my son's car is because of low mileage on the car, otherwise the total amount of damage was $6549.80 on a 2001 Honda Accord.
While my son's injury was minor the other driver was drunk. This was his first offense but I wonder about my son's condition in the future. Is $1,000 a sufficient settlement?

Answer:No attorney will be able to answer this accurately with the limited information provided.
You must be more specific with your description of your son's "minor" injuries. And what is the future "condition" you are worried about?
If this is the drunk driver's insurance company's first offer hold out for more.
The fact that he was drunk doesn't matter. He is responsible because he blew the stop sign.
I suggest speaking to a personal injury attorney immediately.
Good luck,
Charles
