Overview of Personal Injury Settlements and If You Should Do It Yourself...

Personal injury claims are filed, argued, and taken to court every day. In fact, arguing on behalf of injured people is a booming business amongst the legal community - it's to the point that you can't get through a day without seeing, hearing, or reading a commercial for an injury attorney or law firm.

Personal injury doesn’t have to be a difficult or confusing subject...

Click Here for a basic overview and important points about the injury claims and settlement process.

It's been said that anyone who chooses to represent themselves “has a fool for a lawyer.” If this were always true, it wouldn’t be the case that more and more people are successfully handling their own cases in many types of civil actions. Sometimes hiring a lawyer can be the foolish thing - monetarily speaking.

The question is, do you really need to hire someone, or can you represent yourself in your personal injury claim?

Before going further, read the following two pages...

1) Claims You'll Need Attorney Legal Services For

2) Should You Handle Your Personal Injury Case on Your Own?

Here are two main reasons why you would choose to represent yourself:

1) It simply might not be financially worth it to hire a lawyer. The percentage your lawyer will take from the final settlement may leave you with less than if you did it yourself. (Example: You handle the case yourself and get a $5,000 settlement offer, but decide it isn't enough and hire a lawyer who gets you a $6,500 offer - sound good? Not if your lawyer takes the standard 33% fee, leaving you with $4,350.)

2) Many personal injury cases are quite easy and straightforward. If the defendant is clearly at fault and the damages are detailed accurately, you shouldn't have a problem getting a fair settlement offer. Remember, you can always elect to hire a lawyer at any stage of the game (before you sign the release of course).

Still, there's a lot of information out there, and the law can often look confusing from a distance. If you were to go to a law library to research your case, you'd be overwhelmed with complicated and irrelevant information.

This website is designed to present all the basic information you need to tackle a personal injury claim by yourself and it does so in a clear and concise manner. The site covers personal injury in most every common circumstance from car accident injuries to slip and fall accidents.

Because there are many different types of personal injury cases, you'll find that a lot of the pages here don’t apply to you. That’s okay, you shouldn't feel required to read the sections that aren’t relevant to your case. (But the more familiar you become with all aspects of the game, the better prepared you'll be.)

When reading through this website, bear in mind that there are a lot of laws out there, and it would be impossible and impractical to cover them all. This personal injury website presents a summary of what most people need to know to file their own claim and get a settlement.

Remember that most of the applicable laws vary from state to state and even within each state's counties. So when you use this site, you must keep in mind that once you have set up your basic claim, you may still need to research the specifics of law in your area.

Lastly, your decision to represent yourself is a money saving choice and a calculated investment that lets you keep the percentage of the claim your lawyer would have taken. However, it's important to realize from the start that there are no guarantees when representing yourself (or when using a lawyer for that matter). We make no guarantees about the accuracy of the information on this site and you should NOT consider anything on this site to be formal legal advice. Read the disclaimer at the bottom of every page.

This website is a great guide to helping you handle your own personal injury claim and win a fair settlement. We'll provide the information but the rest is in your hands.
