My 8yr Old Son Stepped on a Security Pin from a Shoe Store...
by Nicole
(Illinois)
My 8yr old stepped on a security pin that was left in a shoe box after purchasing shoes from a shoe store. His foot was bleeding and he has been in pain ever since.
What is the maximum allowable amount to ask for in this type of Personal Injury case seeing he's only 8yrs. old?

Nicole:
There is no limit to the amount you can recover on your son’s behalf. If your son incurred medical expenses as a result of the pin incident there would exist grounds to recover compensation in a Personal Injury case.
If he's been in pain since the incident and the pain is a result of infection or other adverse medical reaction to the piercing of his foot it is important he seek immediate medical care. Absent medical bills it is highly improbable you will be able to recover more than an apology from the shoe store.
