Hit and Run Case...

I got injured in a hit and run case recently. I was walking with my oldest daughter into a hospital when a truck didn't make its assigned stop. It hit me and pushed me 2 yards away. After he hit me the man driving the truck told me to move out of his way and left the scene.

I was disabled before this accident and now I'm even more injured. What do you think I should do about this?

If the truck was commercial and you were able to get the name and possibly telephone number you should call the owner and at a minimum admonish her about her employee’s action.

In the alternative, attempt to secure the insurance information of the driver or the company and file a claim. To successfully recover any settlement amount you will have to be able to prove the recent collision caused you to suffer independent injuries. If not the insurance company will reject your claim, stating that any pain you are suffering is just a manifestation of your former injury.

Your final alternative would be to file a lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle, the company which owned the vehicle at the time it hit you, or both.
