Dog Walker Lawsuit...
by Marc
(Reno, NV)
Our dog walker/sitter let his elderly wife walk our Weimaraner after we told him not to let her. She fell some distance from our home and now has over $5,000 in medical bills.
Our dog walker is a former NFL defensive tackle and attorney. He is fully capable of walking the dog, but his wife is not. She was not in our hire. We have deep pockets and are sick with fear. Do they have a case against us? What can we do?

ANSWER for "Dog Walker Lawsuit...":
Marc (Reno, NV):
You ask if they have a case against you. The answer is - probably not. Unless the woman's injuries occurred on your property you don't have much to worry about. Even if the woman was injured on your property your homeowners insurance will probably be more than enough to cover a $5,000 dollar claim.
$5000 dollars in medical bills could possibly result in a settlement of $15,000 or $20,000 dollars - and that's only if your homeowners insurance company decides to pay the claim. Even if they don't pay the claim and you are sued, your insurance company is legally bound to provide legal counsel to represent your interests.
The second protection which should afford you some comfort is your instruction to the NFL player not to allow his wife to walk the dog.
Finally, the question everyone wants to know is What is a former NFL player/Attorney is doing waking your dog? That has to be the question of the year.
You and your husband really don't have anything to worry about. If you are still concerned or you receive any communications from the NFL player demanding money you should consult with either a personal injury attorney or your own personal attorneys. They will probably put you at ease as well.
