Car Accident Photos: An Accident Picture is Worth a Thousand Words...

It's almost automatic these days for people to take car accident photos. No matter what other evidence you collect, nothing is more dramatic than a car accident picture.

Especially in serious car collisions, the drama of a few photos can greatly aid you in collecting punitive damages.

Also, taking good auto accident photos is one of the easiest ways to show an insurance adjuster what actually happened.

Photos are helpful in all forms of accidents, not just car collisions.

If you slipped or tripped on something, and can preserve the dangerous setting in a photograph, it'll help you later on.

It's one thing to say there was a huge spill on the floor, but to show how drastic it was with a picture is another, much better thing.

If a spill is subtle a picture can also help. It will show how hard it was for you to see it and avoid it. Therefore, clearing you of negligence.

But the more common situation where pictures come into play are car accident photos. These can sometimes be an essential part of your case. A good photo can show how the accident actually happened and in that way help prove the other driver was at fault.

This is important even if you don’t plan on making a claim. Your accident pictures could clear you of fault if the other person decides to file a claim against you at a later time.

Photos can also reveal details you didn’t notice at the scene. This will help you recreate things in words for your demand letter.

It's easy to argue against a written statement, it's much harder to argue against a photograph. At the very least, photos will impress the insurance claim adjuster by showing that you're organized and prepared.

Getting car accident photos isn't always easy. Accident scenes are usually cleaned up pretty quickly. If you don’t have a camera with you you may be out of luck.

One thing to remember is that nowadays almost all cell phones come with a built-in camera. So, if a camera phone is all you have, use it.

When processing your claim without the aid of photographs, you can still use pictures to help. There's no rule that says you can’t draw a car accident picture.

In fact, a good accident report form will actually ask you to draw a picture of what happened. This is another great way to express what you might have difficulty putting into words.
