Appealing a Personal Injury Settlement...

(USA)
I have a concern about a current case... If a personal injury settlement is awarded by a jury and the defendant appeals the award amount, is there a limitation on time to complete the appeal process before I can get my settlement check?

ANSWER for "Appealing a Personal Injury Settlement...":
Appellate procedures vary from state to state. Without knowing in which state your case was tried it would be difficult for us to properly advise you.
We can tell you this though. You can be assured there is a limited time period in which to appeal a case, whether appealing a jury award, or the case itself. In most states the time period in which to file an appeal is 30 days.
Certainly it would be in your best interests to immediately, or as soon as is reasonably possible, determine the appellate time limitation for fear of losing your legal right to appeal.
Since laws change frequently and across jurisdictions you should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state (if you haven't already). Find an experienced local attorney to give you a
